How do you feel now that you have passed the exam?
I’m so happy to have reached my goal! I’m sad to say bye to the friends I made and teachers that helped me during my time at GLICC, but I couldn’t be happier with the result.
How was the exam?
I took the exam two times. After not making it the first time, I was really nervous to take it again. Even though I had done a lot of practice, the exam was a lot more difficult than I expected. It was so difficult to finish the whole exam, but when I saw the passing result, I was happy that all my hard work at GLICC finally paid off.
How do you feel studying at GLICC helped you pass the exam?
When I joined GLICC in 5th grade, I had no idea how to write an essay properly, and I couldn’t understand the vocabulary in the reading passage, but after just a few months, I felt confident in my ability to write a proper essay with appropriate vocabulary.
What study habits/routines did you have?
One of the reasons I chose GLICC is because other Juku schools usually require you to attend for several hours on multiple days of the week; however, GLICC’s classes gave us a manageable amount of homework that made me feel like I could be productive with my studies at home every day whilst also being able to spend time on my other interests. They also offered lots of extra classes which kept me busy during holidays or in the lead up to exams.
Was there anything you particularly liked about the lessons at GLICC?
There were many things that I liked about GLICC. Even though the topics were sometimes difficult, the teachers gave us a lot of support and made sure that the students could follow along. Outside the classroom, I really appreciated the environment at GLICC. The teachers were always willing to talk or answer questions, and everyone communicated in English, which created an encouraging atmosphere.
What was something you felt like you improved during your time here?
Before I joined GLICC, I didn’t know how to write a proper essay. I would just write a bunch of short sentences that didn’t connect with each other. But with help from the teachers, I learned how to organize my ideas into clear paragraphs. I also became able to work quickly. The Mita test is very long, and we only have one hour to complete everything. I would never have been able to get through it all without the training I received at GLICC.
What advice would you give for future students who also want to attend Mita?
Listen to the teachers and try not to worry too much. GLICC teachers are all very supportive and will tell you exactly what you need to improve, so listen to their feedback and don’t get too stressed.
Would you recommend GLICC to other students who want to get into Mita?
Definitely! The staff know a lot about Mita, and could really help me prepare.
What are you most excited about for your new school?
I’m excited to learn more about science so that I can get closer to my dream of becoming an oncologist in the future.
